People will always try to tell me what to wear, what to say, and who to be, but I've learned to stay true to who I am. And wherever that takes me in life is where I'm supposed to be." - Cali
In a world of cookie-cutter pop divas, newcomer CALI is anything but. A fresh-faced beauty, her voice is strong but pure. She's also a talented songwriter. Cali has a desire to genuinely connect with her audience, and everything about her work reflects that.
Thoughtful, refreshingly honest & inspiring, Cali describes her self-titled debut album as, "a labor of love – and a dream come true." She co-wrote seven of the album's tracks, including the first single, "Get Up." The song was spotlighted earlier this year on RadioDisney, and Cali was named as one of the network's "Incubator Artists." Her music has also been featured in campaigns for GapKids & MyCoke.com. The cd, featured as a Wal-Mart Exclusive in May 2007, can now be found in all major retail outlets.
Cali was able to devote herself fulltime to the album which also features the production work of Darrell Vanzant (former Director of A&R, Vivaton/SONY RED), Sam Mizell (Jump 5, American Idol's RJ Helton), and Ric Robbins (Multi-Grammy Award Winner, GRITS, TobyMac), plus mixing engineer extraordinaire Steve Hodge (Multi-Grammy Award Winner and the master engineer behind such acts as Janet Jackson, Sounds of Blackness, TLC, Toni Braxton, Usher, Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, New Edition).
As a young teen, Cali was inspired by the music and careers of teen pop sensations Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Mandy Moore. Cali's remains an unapologetic fan of upbeat, fun pop music, regardless the genre. You'll still find Christina on Cali's i-Pod... alongside contemporary Christian acts Nicole Nordeman and Stacie Orrico, singer/songwriters John Mayer and Corrine Bailey Rae and country artist Taylor Swift.
Cali has also enjoyed an unusually diverse touring schedule for a brand new artist. She's was given a plum spot on the mainstream "Camplified" pop tourthat was sponsored by Fender, Sonic Bids and PopStar! Magazine.
Cali was also invited to sing at Christian music's, Shoutfest for two consecutive years sharing the stage with Krystal Meyers, Building 429, SuperChick, Jump 5, Jessie Daniels, Day of Fire, and By the Tree.
